Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/20/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy (4-4) struck early and held strong late as the Griffins earned a 2-1 victory over Cairn University (1-4-1) on Saturday afternoon at the Athletic Complex. The Griffins came out firing, out-shooting Cairn 13-1 in the opening half. Their relentless pressure paid off in the 18th minute when freshman forward Drew Bark (Philadelphia, Pa.) broke through for the game's opening goal, finishing off a crisp assist from senior forward Kira Bradley (Langhorne, Pa.). Bradley continued to make her presence felt, this time finding the back of the net herself in the 43rd minute (43:16) off a setup from senior forward Natalie Morris (Boyertown, Pa.) to give Gwynedd Mercy a commanding 2-0 lead before halftime.
Cairn managed to cut the deficit in the 57th minute (57:18, 2-1), but the Griffins' back line and midfield-controlled possession the rest of the way. Bradley spearheaded the attack with six shots and three on target, while junior midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Samantha Winco (Chalfont, Pa.) also kept the pressure on with key chances. Senior goalkeeper Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) started the first 45 minutes of the contest, finishing with the lone save for the red and gold, earning the victory (2-1). Senior goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) held strong in the second half, playing all 45 minutes in the second frame and helping Gwynedd Mercy secure their second win in a row.
