Lancaster, Pa. – (4/30/2025) – Earlier this week, Gwynedd Mercy University senior Victor Cruz (New Castle, Del.) and freshman Fanta Dukuly (Philadelphia, Pa.) were respectively recognized as the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week for their performances in the Red and Gold's own Last Chance Meet (Apr. 27). Both Griffins recorded first-place finishes in the 200-Meter; Cruz was the fastest in the men's race with a 22.51, while Dukuly was first in the women's race with a 27.40. The latter also place first in the 100-Meter with her time of 13.11.
 
In the Relays, Cruz helped Gwynedd Mercy University to a first-place finishes in the 4x100-Meter Relay (1^st, 45.07; Marable, Soubik, Stewart, Cruz) and the 4x400-Meter (1^st, 3:44.15; Marable, Soubik, Stewart, Cruz). Dukuly and the women's teams successful as well with their second-place (2^nd, 4:48.11) performance in the 4x400-Meter (Dukuly, O'Neill, McCluskey, Ezzie).
 
Opposite the Griffins, Pratt Institute freshman Soren Ekstrom (Stamford, Conn.) was named the AEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Neumann University junior sprints/throws Kyleigh Joniec (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the AEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University will conclude their season this weekend as they host their league rivals at the Athletic Complex for the 2025 AEC Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships. Events begin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and continue at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 4.
