Union, N.J. - (4/22/2025) - With just a little less than two weeks left in the season, Gwynedd Mercy University (10-21) traveled to Kean University (31-5) for their toughest challenge this season. Coming into the contest, the Cougars are ranked as the #4 team in the nation and showed why in the matchup. Kean finished with 13 hits in the contest while holding the Griffins to just three. Sophomore pitcher Patrick Talley (Collingswood, N.J.) started his sixth game this season and struggled against the nationally ranked Cougars. Talley pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six hits, nine earned runs, three walks, and striking out two in the loss (3-3).
Griffin Highlights:
- Even though senior outfielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) went 0-for-2 at the plate, Root worked professional at-bats, finishing with three runs-batted-in (RBI) and two walks on the day. Root drove in a run in the second with a walk (5-1), the fourth (9-2), and the sixth (12-3).
- Multiple Griffins made their first career start today, including freshman catcher Peter Burnley (Sicklerville, N.J.) and junior infielder Colin Stocklin (Philadelphia, Pa.). Burnley earned three walks and Stocklin finished with two.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to Frank O. Genuardi Legends Field Wednesday, April 23, when the team hosts Penn State Abington for a 3:30 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
