Devine Matches Crespo Single-Game Points Record in League Win at Neumann University

Aston, Pa. - (4/12/2025) - Freshman attack David Crespo (Furlong, Pa.) scored the first two Gwynedd Mercy University (6-7, 2-1) goals (13:00, 11:27, 1QTR), but it was junior attack Josh Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) who recorded 10 points in tonight's 20-11 triumph at Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rival Neumann University (3-12, 0-1). Devine matched Crespo's two first-quarter goals with a pair of his own (5:50, 1:44) and located senior attack Dominic Romania (Phoenixville, Pa.) just after the eight-minute mark of the frame (4-2, 7:59). He picked up a second-quarter assist on a goal by junior attack Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) (9-3, 10:54) and scored back-to-back Red and Gold goals at 13:03 (11-4) and 11:26 (12-4) of the third quarter, before matching Crespo's recent record and propelling the Griffins to victory with a fourth-quarter assist to Crespo at 14:37 (17-5) and the game's final tally with 3:06 (20-11) remaining.

Griffin Highlights
  • After Crespo's second first-quarter score, tallies from senior midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) (3-2, 9:21, 1QTR), senior attack Dominic Romania (Phoenixville, Pa.) (4-2, 7:59, 1QTR), and Devine (5-2, 5:50) spurred Gwynedd Mercy University to a 6-3 (1:44) advantage.
  • In the second quarter, Kish (7-3, 13:23), Crespo (8-3, 13:02), and Seaman (9-3, 10:54) extended the Red and Gold lead to 9-3. A Late trade of scores made it 10-4 (2:03) at intermission.
  • A 6-1 third-quarter spread extended the Gwynedd Mercy University lead to 16-5; a measure that was softened by a 6-4 Neumann University flex in the final 15 minutes.
