Arlington, Va. - (3/28/2025) - Today started Atlantic East Conference (AEC) play for Gwynedd Mercy University (8-11, 0-1 AEC), and it was a conference opener to forget. The Griffins traveled down to Marymount University (11-10, 1-0 AEC) for the first game of a three-game set. The Red and Gold pitching struggled against the Saints all day as the team fell 30-4. Freshman pitcher Connor Hafto (Washington Township, N.J.) got the nod for game one and allowed nine earned runs, four hits, one walk, and four batters hit in the loss (1-4).

After the Saints put up a whopping nine runs in the first inning, Gwynedd Mercy returned with four runs of their own with a runs-batted-in (RBI) triple from senior outfielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) (9-3). The next batter, sophomore infielder Ryan Horner (Cinnaminson, N.J.), put the bat on the ball, and an error from the third baseman cut the lead to 9-4.
Gwynedd Mercy University looks to put game one behind them as they host games two and three at Frank O. Genuardi Legends Field tomorrow, Saturday, March 2,8 for a doubleheader contest with game one starting at 12:00 p.m.
