Griffins Look To Keep Pace With #8 Nationally Ranked Sea Gulls

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/25/2025) - Coming into the game on a season-high three-game win streak and taking down the #21 ranked team in the country in their previous contest, Gwynedd Mercy University (8-10) once again was faced with a monumental task trying to defeat the #8 ranked Salisbury University (16-4). The Sea Gulls' high-powered offense and suffocating pitching proved challenging for the Red and Gold as the Griffins fell short in a 15-4 defeat. Junior pitcher Ryan Kasper (Levittown, Pa.) made his second career start against Salisbury and went two innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. Kasper also finished with two walks and two strikeouts in the loss (0-1).

Griffin Highlights:

  • Down 9-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, Gwynedd Mercy did not show quit as freshman infielder Deven Ross (Lansdale, Pa.) hit a double to right field brining home junior infielder Jimmy DeCarlo (Ridley Park, Pa.) and getting the Griffins on the board (9-1).
  • In the seventh inning and the bases loaded, freshman catcher Gabe Tomei (Manahawkin, N.J.) had a productive out as he was out at first base, but did bring home sophomore infielder Ryan Horner (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (10-2). The next batter, senior infielder Ricky Templeton (West Deptford, N.J.), hit a two-run-batted-in (RBI) missile through the right side of the diamond, giving Gwynedd Mercy their final two runs of the contest (10-4).
  • The Red and Gold managed nine hits in the contest, with both senior outfielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) and DeCarlo recording a multi-hit game. DeCarlo finished two-of-three on the day, while Root was three-of-five.

Gwynedd Mercy University begins Atlantic East Conference play Friday, March 28, when the team travels to Marymount University for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
