Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (2/28/2025) - After a thrilling comeback in yesterday's competition, Gwynedd Mercy University (3-3) hosted Hobart College in the first game of a two-game series. Nine innings would not be enough to determine a winner in the contest, and it was the Statesmen who would score six in the eleventh inning and walk away with an 8-2 victory. Senior pitcher Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) made his second start in the 2025 season. Root pitched eight strong innings, allowing two earned runs and three walks, while striking out five in the no decision (0-1).

- Gwynedd Mercy struck first in the bottom of the third thanks to a run-batted-in (RBI) from junior infielder Jimmy DeCarlo (Ridley Park, Pa.) (1-0) and heads up baserunning from senior outfielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) who gave junior outfielder Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.) enough time to cross home plate before being picked off at first.
- Gwynedd Mercy registered seven hits while leaving seven runners on base throughout the matchup.
Gwynedd Mercy University is back in action tomorrow (Sunday, March 2) when the team hosts Hobart College for game two, with a scheduled 11:30 a.m. first pitch.
