Doylestown, Pa. - (2/21/2025) -  The Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins (0-3) were unable to snag their first win of the season after a 19-9 loss against the Delaware Valley University Aggies (1-0) this afternoon. 

Delaware Valley was able to score the first goal of the game at 10:36 left in the first quarter, though the Griffins remained composed and responded less than two minutes later (8:53).  Both teams continued to trade goals, with the Aggies coming out of the first quarter on top with a 5-3 lead. 

Gwynedd Mercy was unable to control possession, losing the draw control seven times in the second quarter alone.  They were able to get a rhythm on attack, with three goals in quick succession (12:43, 11:25 and 8:50) and closed the first half down two goals, 8-10. 

The Aggies came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Griffins 7-0 in the third quarter.  With 7:02 left in the game, Gwynedd Mercy's Sydney Pryor (West Chester, Pa.) entered the game as goalkeeper and finished with 5 saves and no goals against. 

Griffin Highlights: 

• Freshman defender Emma Hastings (Collingswood, N.J.) snagged her first career goal off an assist from senior attacker Hailey Bloom (Margate City, N.J.). 

• The Griffins struggled to maintain possession of the ball, with a total of 30 turnovers in the loss. 

• Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) recorded a season-high 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) and was a critical part of Gwynedd Mercy's attack. 

• Sophomore defender Deshe Dunlap (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Hailey Bloom both had strong holds on the ball throughout the game, combining for 11 ground balls. 

Gwynedd Mercy returns to action on Wednesday, February 26, when they travel to Wilkes University for a 7:00 pm game.
