Hackettstown, N.J. - (2/18/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-18, 1-8 AEC) for the final time in the 2024-2025 season took to the road and battled Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rival Centenary University (N.J.) (15-10, 4-6 AEC). After being down a game-high 20 points (46-26, 2:43) going into halftime, a determined and motivated Red and Gold team came out in the third quarter with a dominating 17-8 third-period advantage over the Cyclones. In the end, the Griffins fell just short in an impressive comeback with a 78-74 defeat finishing with a road record of 3-7 on the year. Both sophomore guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) and junior forward captain Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) lead the way for Gwynedd Mercy in the contest splitting 21 points apiece. Eisenhart played all but two minutes in the contest (38 minutes) contributing with nine rebounds and an assist, while Cresto was an impressive 5-of-10 (50%) from behind the arc with three rebounds and a steal.
Griffin Highlights:
- Other than Cresto and Eisenhart the Red and Gold's offense struggled as only senior forward captain Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) recorded double-digit points (10). The Griffins only registered eight assists throughout the contest, while Centenary piled 20 assists.
- The Cyclones offense came from every angle. From inside the paint (33-of-62, 53%) to around the perimeter (6-of-15, 40%) from starters (34 points) to bench players (44 points). Gwynedd Mercy only recorded 13 bench points as Centenary recorded 44.
Gwynedd Mercy plays its final matchup of the 2024-25 season on Friday, February 21 when the team hosts Neumann University for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
