Griffins Bench Looks To Spark Team Past Saints

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (2/12/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-17, 1-7 AEC) looked to keep their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Tournament chances alive as the Red and Gold welcomed Marymount University (8-13, 5-3 AEC) to the Griffin Complex. Desperate for a win, the Griffins held the defending AEC champions in check in the first half only trailing 36-29 going into the half. To open the third quarter the Saints would open up the third quarter on a 7-3 run and didn't look back as Marymount dominated the quarter with a 23-10 advantage. This large deficit would be too much to overcome as Gwynedd Mercy dropped the contest 71-53 splitting their matchup (1-1) with the Saints this season. Junior forward captain Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) was a warrior on the court as she finished with a game-high 36 minutes even after a scary fall early in the fourth quarter. Eisenhart collected nine rebounds a team-high four assists, a block, seven points, and a game-high four steals.

Griffin Highlights:

  • Freshman guard Peyton Attivo (Middletown, Pa.) was a spark off the bench finishing with a career and season-high nine points. Attivo was a perfect 3-of-3 (100%) from beyond the arc including back-to-back three-pointers in the second quarter (3:24, 2:14).
  • Down 20 points going into the final ten minutes of the game, Gwynedd Mercy showed no quit led by freshman Frannie Boyle (Newtown, Pa.) as she finished with all six points in the quarter. The Griffins would go on to win the fourth quarter 14-12. Boyle also recorded two rebounds in the contest.
  • A turning point in the contest was the free throw advantage the Saints gathered throughout the contest. The Saints recorded 29 free throw attempts (14-of-29 48%) while the Griffins only managed 15 (6-of-15 40%).
  • Gwynedd Mercy's bench outscored Marymount's bench 34-20.

Gwynedd Mercy plays its final non-conference matchup of the 2024-25 season on Saturday, February 15 when the team hosts Penn State Schuylkill for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
