Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/6/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University (2-6) welcomed Albright University to the Griffin Complex, where both teams went blow for blow against each other. A back-and-forth affair, the Griffins brought the Lions down to final possession before falling just short in a 62-59 thriller. Freshman guard Layla Verbit (Sellersville, Pa.) delivered a breakout performance with 10 first-half points and finished with a career-high 18 points with five rebounds and an assist in 22 minutes of game action.

- Gwynedd Mercy came out firing, controlling the opening quarter with efficient shooting and strong ball movement on their way to a 16–9 lead after the first 10 minutes. Junior guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) set the early tone, pouring in 12 points in the first quarter alone, including a pair of three-pointers that energized the home crowd. Gwynedd Mercy held its largest lead at nine points (16-7) with 1:59 left in the frame.

- The third quarter turned into a defensive grind, with both teams combining only 17 points. Gwynedd Mercy's interior defense-anchored by senior forward Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.), junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa), and junior forward Rachel Dunn (Lansdale, Pa.)-held Albright to 23% shooting in the period. At the offensive end, freshman forward Caitlyn Majiros (Nanticoke, Pa.) provided a steadying presence, scoring three points and helping the Griffins reclaim momentum despite entering the fourth trailing 45-41.
- Gwynedd Mercy finished with 43 bench points, a season-high effort, and outscored Albright in fast-break points while winning the rebounding battle 34–35. Verbit led the team with 18 points, while Cresto added 12, Majiros ten, and Dunn eight.
