McFadden and Griffins Subdue Patriots

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/4/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University (2-5) delivered its most commanding performance of the season, overwhelming the University of Valley Forge (0-7) from start to finish in a 71-18 non-conference win inside the Griffin Complex. The Griffins controlled every phase of the game, outscoring the Patriots in all four quarters and showcasing exceptional depth with 49 bench points. The red and gold's balanced offense was highlighted by a standout performance from sophomore guard Brianna McFadden (Fairless Hills, Pa.), who poured in a game and career-high 19 points on 8-of-14 (57%) shooting while adding four assists and a game-high four steals. 

Griffin Highlights:  

  • Gwynedd Mercy opened the night with a statement, racing to a 21-5 first-quarter lead behind a flurry of fast-break finishes and stifling defense. The Griffins forced 30 turnovers overall and converted them into 32 points, consistently turning Valley Forge miscues into transition baskets.  
  • Sophomore forward Frannie Boyle (Newtown, Pa.) and freshman guard Layla Verbit (Souderton, Pa.) added efficient sparks off the bench, posting 12 points and 11 points, respectively, as Gwynedd Mercy's reserves outscored Valley Forge's entire lineup. 
  • On the glass, the Griffins dominated with a 59–28 rebounding advantage, including 32 offensive boards that produced 24 second-chance points. Junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa) posted a team-high eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Kailyn Bell (Ridley Park, Pa.), junior forward Rachel Dunn (Lansdale, Pa.), and Boyle each contributed to the overwhelming interior control.  
  • Defensively, the Griffins held Valley Forge to just 5-of-31 (.161) shooting from the field, including a 1-for-14 (.071) performance in the second half.

Gwynedd Mercy University is back in action on Saturday, December 6, when the team welcomes Albright College for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
