Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/1/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy (0-1) opened the 2025-26 season by hosting the Gwynedd Mercy University Tip-Off Tournament, battling St. Mary's College of Maryland (1-0). Sophomore guard Kailyn Bell (Ridley Park, Pa.) led the way for the Griffins with 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists in the loss.  

Griffin Highlights:  

• The Griffins (0-1) traded baskets with the Seahawks early, playing to a 20-20 tie after the first quarter. St. Mary's used a small second-quarter surge to take a 41-35 lead at the break, but Gwynedd Mercy clawed back in the third, outscoring the visitors 15-14 to stay within five heading into the final period. 
• The Red and Gold went cold from the field in the fourth, shooting just 15 percent (2-for-13) while St. Mary's closed the game on an 18–9 run to seal the victory. 
• Sophomore forward Julianna DiFebbo (West Deptford, N.J.) added 11 points, and junior guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) hit two three-pointers for eight points. Senior forward Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) controlled the boards with a game-high 13 rebounds along with six points, three assists, and three steals. 
• The Griffins outrebounded St. Mary's 49-42, including 22 offensive rebounds, but were hurt by 30 turnovers that led to 27 Seahawk points. 

Gwynedd Mercy University will play the loser of Widener University vs. Ursinus College in the consolation contest on Saturday, November 8th, with a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
