Championship Bound; #5 Griffins Score Trip to AEC Finals with 1-0 win over #1 Pacers

Scranton, Pa. - (11/4/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (11-8-1) concentrated every step and every kick toward their championship goal as an early 42nd-minute connection between Sophomore midfielder Paige Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior forward Kira Bradley (Langhorne, Pa.), and sophomore midfielder Anna Nicosia (Columbus, N.J.) (1-0, 41:01) put all their efforts into place. The remainder of the affair was a constant battle to keep the Pacers at bay as senior goalkeeper Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) made four second-half saves to preserve a 1-0 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Semifinal win for fellow senior goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) (4-5-1).

Griffin Highlights
  • Gwynedd Mercy University was on defense for most of the contest as they looked to overcome a 31-5 shot deficit with quality chances. Bradley took two shots in the first half, but it was a cross to Nicosia in the 42nd minute that gave them a 1-0 separation.
  • Feinman took two of the Griffins' five shots.
  • The Red and Gold defense - junior Jessica Parker (Philadelphia, Pa.), junior Elena DiPrinzio (Warrington, Pa.), sophomore Samantha Winco (Chalfont, Pa.), and freshman Addyson Sparks (Philadelphia, Pa.) - was superb, supporting Gablein and Ronn's goalkeeping efforts by nullifying the shot differential and fending off 19 Pacer corner kicks.
  • Gablein (45:00) recorded three saves to keep the contest scoreless in the first half.
  • The Griffins' last appearance in a conference final was the 2015 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship (L, 0-1 @ #1 Cabrini College on Nov. 7).
Gwynedd Mercy University will look to complete their championship aspirations on Saturday, November 8, when they visit #2 Marymount University for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
