Griffins Hold Off King’s Down the Stretch for First Win of the Season

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/15/2025) – A dominant start and a clutch fourth quarter lifted Gwynedd Mercy University (1-3) to its first victory of the season, a 56–50 home win over King's College (Pa.) (0-2) on Saturday afternoon at The Griffin Complex. Sophomore guard Kailyn Bell (Ridley Park, Pa.) made her presence felt on both ends of the court, finishing with nine points, seven rebounds, and a game-high in assists (six), and steals (two).

Griffin Highlights:

  • The Griffins exploded out of the gate with one of their strongest quarters in recent memory, racing to a 21–10 lead behind crisp ball movement, paint scoring, and suffocating defense. Junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa.) and Bell set the tone early with back-to-back layups, and Bell's corner three helped spark a 12–3 run.
  • The third quarter became a back-and-forth battle. Sophomore forward Julianna DiFebbo (West Deptford, N.J.) played her best stretch of the afternoon, scoring six points in the frame while continuing to defend the paint and rebound effectively.
  • The final quarter belonged to Gwynedd Mercy's leadership and late-game execution. Junior guard Alyssa Cresto (Newark, Del.) delivered repeatedly at the line, going 4-for-4 in the final minute to hold off a final push from the Monarchs. Her nine fourth-quarter points punctuated a team-high 12-point performance.
  • The red and gold owned the glass all afternoon, finishing with a dominant 51–37 rebounding advantage, including 19 offensive boards that turned into 12 critical second-chance points. The Griffins also forced 20 turnovers, generating 15 points off those extra possessions.

Gwynedd Mercy University is back in action on Wednesday, November 19, when the team travels to Rutgers-Camden for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
