Fourth-Quarter Shooting Spree Unable to Rally Griffins Over Knights

Aston, Pa.- (10/22/25)-  Gwynedd Mercy University (2-12, 0-2) traveled to battle Neumann University (9-6, 2-1) this afternoon, losing an Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest 3-1.  The first quarter was deadlocked and it wasn't until the second where the Knights were the first to strike [1-0, 3:59 Q2].  Neumann came in hot at the beginning of the second half with two quick goals [3:31, 4:34 Q3].  Though the Griffins had opportunities to convert shots to goals, the sole goal for the Red and Gold was freshman midfielder  Rhyan Poole (North Wales, Pa.) [11:24 Q3].  Gwynedd Mercy had seven shots in the fourth quarter of the goal but they were unable to get the ball in the back of the goal.

Griffin Highlights:

  • Poole scored the sole goal in the game [11:24 Q3], the second in her career; she was assisted by junior defender Lillie Uttenreither (Bel Air, Md.).

  • The Red and Gold had their most shots in a game since September 20 with 14 total, nine of which were on-goal. The Griffin forwards were busy throughout the game, with freshman Gianna Radcliffe (Harleysville, Pa.) and senior Mackenzie Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) with four shots on goal each.

  • The Gwynedd Mercy defenders had four blocks and junior goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (1-8) ended the day with three saves.

The Griffins next play on Saturday, October 25, when they host the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University for a 12:00 p.m. AEC/Senior Day affair.
