Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (1/29/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-14) welcomed Salisbury University (9-9) to the Griffin Complex where the Red and Gold looked to build on from their previous overtime defeat and get back to their winning ways. The Sea Gulls, however, got off to a fast start in the contest, scoring 27 points in the first quarter alone. Salisbury's largest lead came in the third quarter with a 25-point lead (51-26, 9:35) but the Griffins showed fight. Gwynedd Mercy went on to outscore the Sea Gulls 28-14 in the final 20 minutes but fell short in a 63-54 defeat. Both sophomore Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa.) and junior forward captain Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) recorded 11 points in the contest. Crumpton finished with six boards and a career-high three steals, while Eisenhart recorded seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
Griffin Highlights:
- Salisbury University was lights out from beyond the arc shooting an impressive 11-of-19 (58%) including seven of ten three-point attempts in the first quarter.
- The Red and Gold forced the Sea Gulls into 30 turnovers throughout the contest, with 20 steals. Senior forward captain Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) led the way for the Griffins with four steals.
- Gwynedd Mercy could not find rhythm in three-point land as the team shot 2-of-19 (11%) from three.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to Atlantic East Conference (AEC) play on Wednesday, February 5 when the team travels to Marywood University for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
