Aston, Pa. - (1/25/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-13, 1-4 AEC) traveled to Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rival Neumann University (11-7, 3-2 AEC) in a Saturday matinee. After a disappointing showing offensively in the previous contest, the Griffins came out with a sense of urgency and only trailing the Knights by one (30-29) going into halftime. The second half was similar to the first half with both teams exchanging blows with the score being knotted at 60-60 headed into overtime. This would be the first overtime the 2024-25 Griffins encountered and unfortunately only scored three points in the extra five minutes and fell by a score of 70-63. Freshman forward Truly Heft (East Greenville, Pa.) was a monster in the paint against Neumann. In just her fourth start in her collegiate career, Heft finished with career-highs in minutes (21), points (14), and rebounds (8),
Griffin Highlights:
- Freshman guard Kailyn Bell (Ridley Park, Pa.) had the chance to put the Red and Gold up by three late with just 51 seconds left to go in the contest where she went to the free throw line to shoot two shots with the score being 59-58, unfortunately, Bell only hit one of two shots. Neumann would tie it to send it to overtime with a late jumper (00:29). Bell did finish with a team-high 16 points (6-of-11, 55%), with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
- Junior forward captain Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) was the third member of Gwynedd Mercy to record double-digit points with 15 points. Eisenhart also finished with seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
- Senior forward captain Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) finished with a career-high 42 minutes played and a game-high 11 rebounds in the contest. Eagan only finished with five points but focused on her passing game as she finished with a team-high five assists.
Gwynedd Mercy is back in action on Wednesday, January 29 when the team host Salisbury University for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
