Abington, Pa. - (9/4/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-2) continued their early-season, non-conference schedule with this evening's match at Penn State Abington (3-1). Unfortunately, the Nittany Lions returned the Griffins to campus empty handed as they completed the match in three sets; 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-22). Sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist Kate Etter (Chambersburg, Pa.) totaled a team-high 11.5 points (10 kills, 1 ace, 1 block assist), while junior setter/right side Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.) provided team-highs in assists (23) and digs (19).

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University hit their best in the third set - .071 (10K-7E-42TA) - and finished the match with a .038 (26K-22E-105TA) hitting percentage.
• The Griffins scored four aces; senior middle blocker Lexi Lane (Frederick, Colo.) recorded two of them, while junior setter/defensive specialist Amanda Lopez (Houston, Texas) and Etter located the others.
• Etter added seven digs to her points.
• Fifth-Year outside hitter/defensive specialist Bria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) supported Etter's offensive effort with 9.0 points of her own. She recorded nine kills in addition to her assist and 11 digs.
