O'Donnell Helps Griffins Survive In The Lion's Den

Bryn Athyn, Pa. - (9/13/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (1-3-1) continued their season-long five-game road trip as the red and gold this time traveled to Bryn Athyn College (1-3-1). Just like the game on Wednesday, the Lions got out to an early lead (1-0) just 40 seconds into the contest. With time winding down for the Griffins to even the scoring, sophomore midfielder Luke O'Donnell (Glenside, Pa.) took it upon himself to find the back of the net at the 74:37 mark. O'Donnell's goal brings him to two on the season which is now a career-high for the sophomore in a season. With both teams reaching a stalemate in the final 15 minutes, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Griffins Highlights:

  • After letting up the early goal, Gwynedd Mercy's defense locked up Bryn Athyn as the Lions only recorded four shots after their initial goal with only one being on the net.
  •  Freshman goalkeeper Fionn Berton (Bordentown, N.J.) made his first career collegiate start finishing with one save in the tie (0-0-1).
  • The Griffins outshot Bryn Athyn 13-5 as O'Donnell finished with a game-high five shots and junior forward Braedon Kehan (Warrington, Pa.) finished just behind him with four.

Gwynedd Mercy University travels to Penn College for a rare Sunday match up on September 15 for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
