Center Valley, Pa. - (8/30/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-1) kicked off its 2024 season with a trip to DeSales University (1-0). The Red and Gold struggled offensively in their first game as the team registered only six shots in the contest, all coming in the first half. The Bulldogs would go on to defeat the Griffins 3-0. Junior goalkeeper Joe Romano (Blue Bell, Pa.) made his first career start in net for Gwynedd Mercy finishing with two saves in the loss (0-1).  

Griffin Highlights:   

• Junior midfielder C.J. Clyde (Southampton, Pa.) finished with a team-high two shots in the contest while junior defenseman Hagan Meyer (Warrington, Pa.), senior forward Shaine Kirby (Newtown, Pa.), freshman midfielder Gunnar Christensen (Finksburg, Md.), and sophomore midfielder Luke O'Donnell (Glenside, Pa.) all finished with a shot apiece. 
• Both teams were chippy throughout the contest as 25 fouls were commited throughout the game and three yellow cards were handed out, two for Gwynedd and one for DeSales.  
• The Griffins had only two corner kick opportunities each coming in the first half.
