Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (5/1/2024) - The 2024 season came to an abrupt end for #2 Gwynedd Mercy University (8-8) in this afternoon's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Lacrosse Semifinal as #3 Marymount University (9-9) used a 4-0 first-quarter advantage and an 8-3 third-quarter difference to defeat the Griffins by an 18-8 margin. Sophomore Josh Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) (3 goals) and junior attack Richie Hughes (Turnersvile, N.J.) (2 goals, 1 assist) totaled three points apiece for the Red and Gold.

Griffin Highlights

•  Gwynedd Mercy University was 18-for-25 (.720) on the clear, while recovering 24 ground balls, and winning seven face-offs (7-of-28, .250).They were also 2-for-5 (.400) on man-up opportunities.
• In addition to his team-high three goals, Devine recorded three ground balls.
• The other three Red and Gold goals were scored by senior attack Nick Flamma (Sewell, N.J.) (0:30 3QTR, 1:26 4QTR) and senior midfielder Jack Freeland (Riverton, N.J.) (5:48, 4QTR).
• Junior goalkeeper Jared Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) recorded 10 saves, four ground balls, and a caused turnover in the loss (8-8).

Gwynedd Mercy University finishes the 2024 season 8-8 overall and 5-1 in AEC conference play.
