Radnor, Pa. (4/3/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-9, 0-1) traveled to Cabrini University (7-3, 1-0) where the Red and Gold played their first conference game in their 2024 season. It did not go the way for the Griffins as the Cavaliers rattled off 16 unanswered goals and would win by a final score of 16-2. The two goals came from both junior midfielder Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor Township, NJ.) and attacker Hailey Bloom (Margate City, N.J.). Both goals came in the third quarter at 13:27 and 1:35 minute mark. Senior attacker Caroline Cleary (Chalfont, Pa.) assisted on Avellino's goal and senior attacker Kristin Varilla (Lansdale, Pa.) assisted on Bloom's goal.
Griffin Highlights:
- Freshman goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) made her first collegiate career start in net for Gwynedd Mercy finishing with four saves in the loss (0-1).
- Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Sloan (Philadelphia, Pa.) also saw 33:38 minutes in net for the Griffins and finished with a save.
- Gwynedd Mercy was outshot 31 to 6 in the contest but did force Cabrini into 14 turnovers.
Gwynedd Mercy University hosts Marymount University on Wednesday, April 10, for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
