Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (4/10/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-10, 0-2) welcomed Atlantic East Conference (AEC) rival Marymount University (7-6, 2-1) to the Athletic Complex for today's One Love Foundation Game. The Saints wasted little time establishing an edge as they separated by an 8-0 spread in the first quarter and owned a 14-1 halftime advantage before taking the contest by a 24-5 final. Senior attack Kristin Varilla (Lansdale, Pa.) and junior midfielder Alysia Collins (Royersford, Pa.) scored two goals apiece for the Griffins; the former also recorded an assist, a ground ball, and three draw controls, while the latter totaled three ground balls and two caused turnovers. One Love is the national leader in preventing relationship violence and abuse. Griffin Highlights.

• Gwynedd Mercy University was successful on 12-of-14 (.857) clears, while recording 11 draw controls, and 14 ground balls. They were 1-of-2 on the free position attempts.
• In addition to the scores from Varilla and Collins, junior midfielder Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) scored a goal with 14:02 (20-2) remaining in the fourth quarter. Her tally triggered a four-goal run that included both Varilla goals (11:46, 9:54) and Collins' second (7:33).
• Avellino assisted on the second Varilla goal in the fourth-quarter run. She also recorded three ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls.
• Freshmen goalkeepers, Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (0-2) and Victoria Sloan (Philadelphia, Pa.) made two saves apiece.
