Griffins Start AEC Series with Mighty Macs

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (4/19/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (9-21, 2-8) played host to back-to-back Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Champions Immaculata University (19-12, 8-3) in their series opener. Getting the nod for the Griffins was ace Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.). Ebling did his best to keep the high-powered Mighty Macs offense in check with a final stat line of 8.1IP, 9H, 4ER, and 2K in the loss (4-3). Senior pitcher Joe Golden (Churchville, Pa.) pitched the remaining two-thirds and gave up two earned runs in an 7-0 final.

Griffin Highlights: 

  • The Red and Gold only managed four hits in nine innings with junior outfielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) contributing half of those hits (2-for-4).
  • Also recording a hit base hit was sophomore outfielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) (1-for-3) and freshman infielder Daulton McDonald (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (1-for-2).
  • The only time the Griffins were in scoring position was in the bottom of the third, when McDonald doubled down the left field line. A Root single moved him to third, but a strikeout and a grounder to short ended the inning without harm.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues its series with Immaculata University on Saturday, April 20, with a 12:00 p.m. AEC doubleheader.
