Middletown, Pa. - (12/9/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (4-6) returned to action after a disappointing showing last Saturday (Dec. 7) as the Red and Gold traveled to Pen State Harrisburg (6-3). With just four seconds remaining in the game and Gwynedd Mercy trailing 68-67, junior forward captain Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.) was able to convert a circus shot and give the Griffins a 69-68 lead with just three seconds left. A full timeout allowed the Nittany Lions to advance the ball across the court. Ultimately a foul with one second left in the contest allowed the Nittany Lions to hit two consecutive free throws and sneak away with a 70-69 victory. Eisenhart was sensational finishing with a career-high 27 points (11-of-15, 73%). Eisenhart also included on her stat sheet, nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Griffin Highlights:
- After missing the previous six games with an injury, sophomore guard Angelina Balcer (Philadelphia, Pa.) provided a major spark for the Red and Gold's offense. Balcer finished the contest with only five points, but she provided the facilitator role for the Griffins finishing with a career-high eight assists in the contest.
- Senior forward captain Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) finished with another double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) but also recorded a season-high six assists in the match.
- Freshman guard Kailyn Bell (Ridley Park, Pa.) was lights out from three-point land, as the freshman was a perfect 4-for-4 (100%) from beyond the arc finishing with 12 points.
