2024 AEC Field Hockey Semifinals: #3 Gwynedd Mercy University @ #2 Immaculata University
Lancaster, Pa. – (11/1/2024) – With the conclusion of the conference and regular season schedules, interim league commissioner Rebecca Mullen has officially released the seeding for the 2024 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Field Hockey Championship Tournament. A perfect 4-0 league record earned Marywood University the top seed in the tournament. On Saturday, November 2, the Pacers will host #4 Manhattanville University in a 12:00 p.m. semifinal, while #2 Immaculata University welcomes #3 Gwynedd Mercy University for a 3:30 p.m. semifinal. The winners will meet at the home of the higher seed on Saturday, November 9, for the AEC crown.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University visited Immaculata University on October 23 and suffered their third AEC loss of the season by a 3-0 score. The Mighty Macs used a 15-4 shot advantage and a 10-3 edge in penalty corners to register goals in the fifth (1-0, 4:57), 13th (2-0, 12:56), and 35th (3-0, 34:42) minutes. The Red and Gold registered four shots with junior midfielder Emma Dodd (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior defenseman Laura Filchner (Bath, Pa.), sophomore forward Keleigh Clausius (Landenberg, Pa.), and freshman midfielder Allyssa Seifert (Philadelphia, Pa.) taking one apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) finished with five saves in the loss.
 
Filchner and junior midfielder Mackenzie Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) currently lead Gwynedd Mercy University with 19 points each; the former netted two game-winning goals while the latter has a team-high nine goals on a team-high 50 shots. Senior forward Ashley Berry (Philadelphia, Pa.) has been a playmaker with four assists in the swan-song season. Meanwhile, Weaver has been impressive in goal with 60 saves on 3.02 goals against average (GAA) and a .674 save percentage. She earned her first win (1-8) in the Griffins' recent 2-1 league victory over Manhattanville University (Oct. 30).
