Gordon Records Career-High Six Points Against Penn State Schuylkill

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/7/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (4-4-2) was back in action as the team enjoyed a nine-day break from play as the Red and Gold welcomed Penn State Schuylkill (5-5-1) to the Athletic Complex. With the Griffins coming into the game with fresh legs, the team got out to a hot start scoring at the 15:13 mark with a great through ball from sophomore midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) to junior forward Natalie Morris (Boyertown, Pa.) allowing Morris to score the first goal of the contest. Just under four minutes later (19:07) Gordon was rewarded for her previous assist with a goal of her own assisted by sophomore midfielder Bridget Cannon (Bensalem, Pa.). Gwynedd Mercy would not look back as the Griffins would score four more unanswered goals with one coming from sophomore forward Ksenia Semenovykh (Warrington, Pa.) (33:55), Cannon (61:58), senior forward Bethany Beinlich (Forksvile, Pa.) (71:08), and Gordon again (80:41). Gordon finished with a career-high six points with two goals and two assists.  

Griffin Highlights:  

  • The Red and Gold finished with a season-high 46 shots (fifth most in program history) including Semenovykh with a career-high 11 shots and Gordon with a season-high ten shots. 
  •  Cannon recorded a career-high three assists assisting on both of Gordon's goals and Semenovykh's lone goal.  
  • Gwynedd Mercy's defense was stellar, only allowing nine shots and not allowing a single corner kick opportunity.  
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Miranda Abrams (Philadelphia, Pa.) made her second start of the season finishing with three saves in the win (2-0).  

Gwynedd Mercy University is back to Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday, October 9 when the team welcomes Pratt Institute of Technology for the first time in program history to the Athletic Complex for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
