Annville, Pa. - (10/5/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-10) played their penultimate non-conference contest at Lebanon Valley College (9-1) today. The Dutchmen defeated the Red and Gold with a two goals in both the second (20:24, 29:00) and third (33:21, 44:55) quarters, as well as fifth in the fourth quarter; 5-0. The Griffins totaled three shots; senior midfielder Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) took two and sophomore forward Leany Santana (Wilmington, Del.) recorded the other. In goal, freshman Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) had her second straight performance of 10 saves or more with 11.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University took all three of their shots in the final seconds of the affair as two Avellino strikes were stopped before a third save by the Lebanon Valley College goalkeeper denied Santana.
• Sophomore defender Morgan Hoban (Cinnaminson, N.J.) recorded her third defensive save of the season on a Dutchmen penalty corner at in the 34th minute (33:12).

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Athletic Complex on Wednesday, October 9, to host Penn State Harrisburg for their METAvivor Game; the contest is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
