Scranton, Pa. - (10/23/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-15-1,0-4 AEC) traveled to Marywood University (5-7-3, 1-2-1 AEC) for an Atlantic East Conference (AEC) matchup. Gwynedd Mercy came into the contest desperately needing a conference victory to keep their 2024 playoff hopes alive. With both teams having solid scoring opportunities in the first 20 minutes, it was the Pacers who broke the scoring first (1-0) at 32:54 and would go on to win the contest 3-0. A bright side in the matchup tonight was freshman starting goalkeeper Fionn Berton (Bordentown, N.J.) finished with a collegiate career-high ten saves in the loss (0-8-1).
Griffin Highlights:
- Gwynedd Mercy was outshot 34-6 and only two of those six shots for the Red and Gold were on goal including shots from senior midfielder Kasey Wallace (Audubon, N.J.) and freshman defenseman Dominic Lodise (Bensalem, Pa.).
- Gwynedd Mercy struggles on offense did not allow them to see a corner kick opportunity, while Marywood garnered six.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday, October 26 when the Griffins celebrate Senior Day and host Immaculata University for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
