Griffins and Lions Faceoff In Non-Conference Bout

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/14/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-6-2) played their final non-conference matchup of the 2024 season as the Red and Gold welcomed Albright College (2-8-2) Lions to the Athletic Complex. With a swirling gust accumulating throughout the contest, Gwynedd Mercy struggled to send any long serves into the Lion's territory not allowing the Griffins forward to play their soccer style. With two goals coming in the first half (11:57, 26:36) for Albright, Gwynedd Mercy would be unsuccessful in finding the back of the net and fall to the Lions 2-0. Gwynedd Mercy ended the 2024 non-conference portion of their schedule with a final record of 4-5-2.  

Griffin Highlights:  

  • Even though Gwynedd Mercy outshot Albright 17-12, both teams battled the wind and struggled to get the ball on the net. The Red and Gold only registered five shots on net, while the Lions recorded four.  
  • Sophomore midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) tried to will her team in the scoring collum but came up short. Gordon finished with game-highs in shots (5) and shots on goal (2).  
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) made her fourth start in net her sophomore season, finishing with two saves in the loss (2-2).  

Gwynedd Mercy returns to Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday, October 16 when the Griffins travel to Marymount University for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
