Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/27/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (5-3-1) welcomed Wilson College (7-3-1) to the Athletic Complex where freshman forward
Ksenia Semenovykh (Warrington, Pa.)
continued her freshman campaign with a dominant performance and earning her first collegiate hat-trick (22:30, 23:42, and 50:54). These three goals put Semenovykh at ten goals in just nine games played so far this season as the Griffins defeated the Phoenix 3-2.
Griffin Highlights:
- Sophomore goalkeeper Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) had a phenomenal game in the net for Gwynedd Mercy as Wilson College would not go away quietly. Ronn played all 90 minutes and finished with a career-high 17 saves, earning the win (1-3-1).
- Gwynedd Mercy played the final minutes trying to hold onto the one-goal lead. Thanks to a total team defensive effort most shots were from 30 yards out allowing Ronn to get the save and control the rebound easily.
- The Phoenix outshot the Griffins 24-12.
- At the 80:29-mark sophomore forward captain Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) placed the perfect pass to freshman Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) which split the Wilson defenders and allowed Gordon to get a header on net but was saved by the Phoenix goalkeeper.
Gwynedd Mercy University will play their final non-conference game on Monday, October 2, when they travel to Penn State Abington for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
