Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (8/1/2023) – A month removed from their first competition, Gwynedd Mercy University head women's soccer coach Mike Nelms is pleased to announce the 2023 Gwynedd Mercy University women's soccer schedule. "

The variety of styles we will face will force us to see all types of formations and strategies. Learning how to play as a team will shape us for the long haul."
Gwynedd Mercy University finished the 2022 season 2-12-3 overall and 0-6 in the Atlantic East Conference (AEC). In 2023, the Griffins begin their third season under the direction of Mike Nelms with a Setepmber-1 (4:00 p.m.) contest at Penn State Brandywine. Gwynedd Mercy University dominated the Nittany Lions in their 2022 meeting that saw the Griffins own a 27-8 shot advantage and freshman forward
Jordyn Basile (Quakertown, Pa) score a pair of goals (23:50, 50:36) in a 4-2 victory.
The early-season schedule continues with games at Delaware Valley University (12:00 p.m. on Sept. 2) and Penn State Abington (5:00 p.m. on Sept. 5), before brining the Griffins to the Athletic Complex for a September-9 (1:00 p.m.) home opener versus Bryn Athyn College. September competition dates also include road games at Rosemont College (4:00 p.m. on Sept. 13), Lancaster Bible College (4:00 p.m. on Sept. 16), and the University of Valley Forge (4:00 p.m. on Sept. 20), as well as home contests versus Clarks Summit University (7:00 p.m. on Sept. 18), Cairn University (7:00 p.m. on Sept. 22), and Wilson College (7:00 p.m. on Sept. 27). Gwynedd Mercy University enjoyed a strong showing versus the latter part of their non-conference schedule in 2022 with ties versus the Ravens (T, 1-1 on Sept. 14), the Defenders (T, 2-2 on Sept. 18), and Highlanders (T, 0-0 on Sept. 21) interrupting a loss to the Chargers (L, 0-4 on Sept. 16) and a win over Patriots (W, 6-0 on Sept. 20). Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) totaled seven points (3 goals, 1 assist) and earned the AEC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 12) with her first collegiate hat trick in the win.
October opens AEC play for the Griffins, who search for their first league victory under Coach Nelms in their annual meetings at Cabrini University (6:00 p.m. on Oct. 4), versus Marymount University (4:00 p.m. on Oct. 11), versus Immaculata University (12:00 p.m. on Oct. 14), at Marywood University (4:00 p.m. on Oct. 18), at Neumann University (1:00 p.m. on Oct. 21), and versus Centenary University (NJ) (4:00 p.m. on Oct. 25).
The 2023 AEC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 30, with possible semifinal and championship dates respectively marked for Wednesday, November 1, and Saturday, November 4.
