Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (5/3/2023) - #2 Gwynedd Mercy University (7-9) took a slight 4-3 advantage in the first quarter of this evening's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Lacrosse Semifinal versus #3 Marymount University (9-9). But a 3-1 Saint second quarter and a even spread in the third (2-2) and fourth (3-3) quarters allowed the visitors to escape the Athletic Complex with an 11-10 win. Gunnar Seaman (Worcester, Pa.) led the Griffin offense through the playoff-pace with three goals apiece, while senior goalkeeper
Chase McFeeley (Mullica Hill, N.J.) was solid in net and timely on defense with a dozen (12) saves, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
Griffin Highlights
- The Griffins were more efficient on the clear (18-of-20 (.900) to 16-of-19 (.842)), but trailed the Saints in ground balls (38-23) due to the visitor's superior performance on the faceoff (16-of-25, .640).
- Eide added an assist (10-9, 9:47 4QTR) to his tallies and led Gwynedd Mercy University with four points. He also recovered a ground ball.
- Seaman caused a turnover in excess of his three scores (3:30 1QTR, 0:17 1QTR, 9:47 4QTR).
- Junior midfielder helped stabilize the Griffin offense with an assist, five ground balls, while causing a turnover.
- Sophomore midfielder Ian Kish (Easton, Pa.) provided a man-up goal (7-7, 7:32 3QTR) and five (5-of-5, 1.000) clutch faceoff wins.
- McFeeley's 12-save effort was his eighth double-digit save performance of the season. He finished the year with a 5-7 record.
