Abington, Pa. - (4/26/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (17-16) scored double digit runs for the ninth time this season as they dismissed Penn State Abington (17-17) by 21-8 (7 innings) final in this afternoon's weather-shortened affair. The Griffins took a comfortable lead with their eight-run third inning (8-0). They doubled their lead with an eight-run fifth inning (16-0) and a five-run sixth inning (21-0) before the Nittany Lions rallied and rain rolled in. - Root's three-run doubled headlined the Gwynedd Mercy University's eight-run third inning. It also included run-scoring hits from freshman center fielder Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.) (2-for-4, BB, 2R, 2RBI) (1-0), senior second baseman Jake Martell (Levittown, Pa.) (1-for-6, BB, R, 2RBI) (2-0), Collins (6-0), Price (7-0), and Andress (8-0).
- Collins and Andress both knocked in a pair of runs in the eight-run fifth. Nodeland (13-0), Martell (14-0), Root (15-0), and freshman right fielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) (16-0) also plated runs in the inning.
- Junior first baseman Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) recorded his third home run of the season with a two-run shot in the sixth inning. It was followed by run-scoring at-bats from Junker (19-0), Collins (20-0), and Price (21-0).
- Senior Trey Livingstone (Pennsburg, Pa.) earned the win (3-5) with six (6.0 IP) strong inning. He allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two.
