Scally Records Lone Griffin Hit in Doubleheader at Moravian University

Bethlehem, Pa. - (4/25/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (16-14) visited Moravian University (26-7) this afternoon for a pair of non-conference contests. The Greyhounds defeated the Griffins by 8-0, five-inning finals in both ends of the twin bill. Junior third baseman Grace Scally (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded Gwynedd Mercy University's lone hit as she led off the fifth inning of game two with a single through the left side.

Game 1
  • Sophomore first baseman Shannon McLaughlin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) and junior designated player Ashley Haggerty (East Norriton, Pa.) both drew walks in game one. The former earned a one-out walk in the third inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from junior right fielder Ava Casale (Sewell, N.J.). The latter walked with two out in the fifth inning.
Game 2
  • Scally was the Griffins' only base runner in game two. She advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from senior center fielder Emma Carney (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) and reached third base on a ground out from junior pitcher Jocelyn Baumeister (Willow Grove, Pa.).
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule on Saturday, April 29, when they visit Marymount University for a noon (12:00 p.m.) doubleheader.
