Griffins Pick Up First Road Win Of The Season After Defeating Chargers

Lancaster, Pa. - (12/8/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-4) traveled to Lancaster Bible College (1-8) tonight, looking to pick up their first road win of the 2023-2024 season. The Griffins built a 35-25 halftime lead, but the Chargers cut the advantage to just two points, 46-44 (2:27, 3QTR), before the Red and Gold sealed a 77-56 victory with a 27-10 fourth quarter. Like she has been doing all year, junior guard Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) provided that spark off the Griffin bench as she finished the contest with her first collegiate double-double thanks to career-highs with in points (20) and rebounds (11). She hit four three-point baskets (4-of-6, .667) in a 6-of-10 (.600) shooting performance that came with four free throws (4-of-4, 1.000).

 
Griffin Highlights:
  • Senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, Pa.) coming off reaching 1,000 points in her career showed she could be a playmaker as well as she finished with a team-high six assists. Eggers was second on the team going 5-of-18 (28%) from the floor with 14 points, three rebounds, and a steal. 
  • Senior forward Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.) continued with another strong offensive performance as O'Neill finished with 11 points on 5-of-12 (42%) shooting.
  • The team had a good day at the office from three-point land as the Griffins shot 11-of-26 (42%) including senior guard Gabby Marinacci (Collegeville, Pa.) who was a perfect 3-of-3 (100%). 
  • Gwynedd Mercy made the most of the turnovers they created as they finished with 27 points off 24 forced turnovers. 
Gwynedd Mercy University continues its current three-game road trip on Saturday, December 16, when they visit William Paterson University for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
