Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/6/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (6-4) hosted Albright College (3-4) tonight for their final home game of the 2023 calendar year. The Griffins got off to a slow start, scoring only 24 points in the first half and trailing by as many as 12 points, 55-43 (0:27), in late in the third quarter. But, the fourth quarter was a different story as a 23-8 Griffin tilt pushed the Red and Gold to 69-63 comeback victory. Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) went to the free throw line and hit both free throws to give her a team-high 21 points for the game and exactly 1,000 points for her collegiate career.
Griffin Highlights:
- Senior forward Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished with her first double-double of the season with a game-high 16 rebounds and 12 points. O'Neill also gathered two steals and an assist.
- Graduate forward Sydney Kesselman (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished with a game-high four blocks as well as six points, seven rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Kesselman now has 28 blocks (2.8 per game) in ten games this season.
- Most of the points for both the Griffins and Lions came into the paint as both teams totaled 58 points in the paint out of the 132 total points scored in the contest.
- Eggers finished 5-of-11 (55%) from the field, 2-of-3 (66%) from three-point land, and 9-of-10 (90%) from the charity stripe giving her 21 total points in addition to three rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
- Eggers became just the 16th player in women's basketball program history to reach 1,000 career points.
