Bryn Mawr, Pa. - (12/29/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-6) closed out 2023 above .500 thanks to today's 83-60 victory at Rosemont College (2-10). The Griffins earned a sizable 43-22 halftime lead by holding the Ravens to 7-of-19 (.368) shooting from the field and forcing the home side into 14 first-half turnovers. Meanwhile, senior guard Aziz Parker (Westampton, N.J.) hit 4-of-6 (.667) from long range in a 15-point period that fueled the Red and Gold's 23-point triumph.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University's lead reached double-digits in the opening seven minutes as a pair of free throws from senior forward JoHaan Vinson (Philadelphia, Pa.) pushed the Griffins' early advantage to 11 points, 19-8, with 13:18 to play.
• Thanks to a four-point play from sophomore guard D.J. Johnson (Norristown, Pa.), the Red and Gold advantage increased to 15 points, 23-8 (13:05), before the 13-minute mark.
• The difference reached 21 points, 43-22 (0:22), by halftime and maxed out at 34 points, 71-37, with 7:38 remaining in the second half.
• In the end, Gwynedd Mercy University forced Rosemont College into 24 turnovers; the Griffins totaled 21 points off Raven turnovers and scored 23 points on the fastbreak.
• Parker led three Griffins in double figures with 17 points. He also recorded three rebounds and an assist.
• Vinson finished with 15 points, four rebounds, and an assist.
