Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/30/2023) - After a difficult loss Monday night Gwynedd Mercy University (5-3) welcomed the University of Valley Forge (0-6) to the Griffin Complex where every player on the team contributed with points for the team allowing the Griffins to walk away with an 83-49 statement victory. Sydney Kesselman (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished with her first career double-double with the Griffins with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kesselman also added two assists, a game-high three blocks, and a steal to her stat sheet.
Griffin Highlights:
- After finishing with only 12 points Monday night, senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) had an outstanding bounce-back performance. Eggers finished 7-of-17 (41%) from the field with a game-high 21 points as well as five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
- Nearly half of the Griffins' rebounds (57) were offensive (27) as both Atlantic East Conference's (AEC) leading rebounder senior forward Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished with six offensive rebounds and junior guard Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) finished with five of her own.
- With all the offensive rebounds, Gwynedd Mercy was able to gather, they finished the game with 15 second-chance points to the Patriots' four.
- The Griffins also secured 29 points off turnovers. Leading the way for Gwynedd Mercy was senior guard Gabby Marinacci (Collegeville, Pa.) with a game-high five steals to go along with her ten points and five rebounds.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to action on Saturday, December 2nd, when they travel to Delaware Valley University for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
