Glenside, Pa. - (11/15/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-1) played in their eighth annual Battle of 309 this year traveling to Arcadia University (2-0) where a slow start offensively for the Griffins in the first half 16% from the field (5-of-31) would be too much to overcome as they suffered their first loss of the 2023-2024 season 82-56. Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) finished with a team-high 14 points on 4-of-13 from the floor (31%) and two steals. Eggers also finished with two defensive rebounds and three offensive rebounds. 
 
Griffin Highlights: 

• Gwynedd Mercy struggled to bring in the defensive rebounds as Arcadia University gathered 22 offensive rebounds leading to 25 second-chance points and 30 points in the paint for the Knights. 
• The Griffins as a team struggled from the three-point line as senior guard Ava Casale (Washington Township, N.J.) had a team-high two three-pointers (14 points total) as the team shot 5-of-27 (19%) from beyond the arc, while the knights went 11-of-38 (29%) from three-point land. 
• Gwynedd Mercy also struggled from the charity stripe as they were only 15-of-26 (58%) from the line.

 
Gwynedd Mercy University's next matchup is Saturday, November 18, when they return to the Griffin Complex to take on Wilkes University for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
