Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/15/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-2) played host to Wilkes University (2-0) as both teams mightily struggled offensively throughout the game leading to an overtime thriller that the Colonels were able to sneak past the Griffins 67-65. Sydney Kesselman (Philadelphia, Pa.) played her best game as a Griffin finishing with a career-high 12 points on 6-of-11 (66%) from the field and five rebounds. The reigning Atlantic East Conference (AEC) defensive player of the week also finished with a team-high two blocks in the contest.
Griffin Highlights:
- Senior guard Lynzie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) struggled from the field as she went 6-of-22 (27%), however, Eggers did not let that deter her as she finished with a game-high 21 points as well as six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
- The Griffins struggled from behind the three-point line as they shot 2-of-23 (9%) in the game.
- With both Kesselman and senior forward Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.) in foul trouble most of the game, the Colonels took advantage in the paint as they finished with 38 points in the paint.
- Senior guard Ava Casale (Washington Township, N.J.) struggled to find her shot all game as she finished with a season-low six points on 2-of-13 shooting (15%). Casale also finished with four rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
