Immaculata, Pa. - (1/28/2023) - The Griffins and Mighty Macs met for the second time in six days as Gwynedd Mercy University (10-10, 4-3) traveled to Immaculata University (6-13, 3-3) for today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest. The Home side exacted revenge on Monday's 60-54 win with a narrower 61-60 victory. Gwynedd Mercy University owned a 34-32 halftime lead thanks to an 18-15 rebounding advantage and a 22-12 edge in the paint. The Griffins staked a seven-point advantage, 57-50, on a three pointer from junior guard
Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) with 8:35 to play. Unfortunately, the Mighty Macs evened the contest, 59-59, with 4:38 to go and sealed Griffins' fate with a better final visit to the free throw line.
Griffin Highlights
- Clark (5-of-14, .357), fellow junior guard Aziz Parker (Westhampton, N.J.) (5-of-11, .455), and freshman forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) (5-of-10, .500) scored five baskets apiece.
- The first added four rebounds, an assists, and five steals to his team-high 15 points. The second totaled 14 points in excess of four rebounds and an assist. And the third grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go along with 10 points, three assists, and two steals.
- The Griffins owned a slight 33-32 rebounding edge and forced the Mighty Macs into 18 turnovers.
