Gwynedd Mercy University (3-6) rallied from a late 24-21 deficit to win the opening set 27-25 against Washington College (6-3). Unfortunately, the Shorewomen held on to their leads late in the second second (25-22) and third (25-21) sets before dismissing the Griffins in a lopsided fourth frame; 25-11. Rabe scored all her points with a team-high 11 kills. She also hustled to three digs. Gaston and Brown each recorded eight kills; the former added an assist, two aces, two block assists, and 19 digs, while the latter also recorded an assist, three block assists, and six digs. Ashley Morris (Quakertown, Pa.) captained the defensive effort with 32 digs, while providing two assists and an ace.
The Griffins had less success versus Notre Dame of Maryland University, who scored a 25-14 first-set victory before rallying for a 25-23 second-set win and pacing the Girffins in a 27-25 third-set decision. Brown totaled her points with eight kills, an ace, and a block assist; she also made a pair of digs. Morris made 20 digs and scored three aces.
