Bryn Athyn, Pa. - (9/16/2022) - Junior defenseman  Mike Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) fired five shots and put three of them on the Bryn Athyn College goal, but the Lions recorded a 2-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University with tallies in the eighth (1-0, 7:58) and the 59th (2-0, 58:06) minute of tonight's 2-0 final. Senior forward Evan Kirby (Bensalem, Pa.) helped headline the Gwynedd Mercy University effort with four shots, while freshman midfielder Josh Rossell (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) and sophomore defenseman Mike McGlinn (Philadelphia, Pa.) registered three shots apiece. Senior goalkeeper John Wagner (Phoenixville, Pa.) made seven saves in the loss (0-4).

Gwynedd Mercy University (1-5) matched Bryn Athyn College (2-3) in shots (19-19) and Fienman fired the first Griffin attempt at 10:21. Unfortunately, by then the Lions already owned a 1-0 (7:58) advantage, leaving later first-half Griffin attempts from Rossell (20:51), McGlinn (22:08, 27:51), and freshman forward Connor Bilotta (Runnemede, N.J.) (38:59) in retaliation. In the second half, a 15-5 Griffin shot advantage still could not break the Bryn Athyn College defenses as a second Lion tally sealed the Griffins' fate just after the 58-minute mark.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Griffin Complex on Monday, September 19, when McDaniel College visits for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
