Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (9/13/2022) –Gwynedd Mercy University (2-2-1) welcomed Lancaster Bible College to the Athletic Complex on a beautiful late-summer night. The Chargers scored three early goals in the first half and never looked back in a 4-0 final. Freshman forward
Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) led the Griffins with five shots; she put one on goal.
Lancaster Bible College (3-1) opened the scoring just past the six-minute mark (1-0, 6:03) and extended their early with another tally just before the 10-minute mark; 2-0. A third Charger goal came at 13:25 (3-0) and was almost quickly answered with a Beinlich beam off the post. From there, Gwynedd Mercy University (2-2-1) battled through intermission but surrendered a fourth Lancaster Bible College tally just 46 seconds after the start of the second half; 4-0 (45:46). With urgency, the Griffins pressured the Chargers for the remainder of the second half. Unfortunately, late strikes from Beinlich (78:28, 82:12), senior defensemen
Claudia Krouse (Southampton, Pa.) (83:24), and sophomore forward
Jenna Clarency (Philadelphia, Pa.) (89:12) failed to sway the decision.
In addition to Beinlich (5), Krouse (1), and Clarency (1), freshman midfielder
Dakota Fryns (Dracut, Mass.) finished the game with three shots and freshman defensemen
Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) offered one shot on the Charger goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) was busy throughout, making a dozen (12) saves in the loss (1-2-1).
Gwynedd Mercy University looks to rebound tomorrow, Wednesday, September 14, as they host Rosemont College for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
