Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/2/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University opened their 2022 season at home, as they hosted Penn State Abington in this afternoon's contest. The Nittany Lions controlled play as they they used a 34-9 shot advantage to eventually defeat the Griffins by a 7-0 final.
Junior forward Grace Burns (Upper Moreland, Pa.) was Penn State Abington's champion, scorng the first three tallies (7:27, 24:01, 28:56) of the contest and a fourth at 75:06 (6-0). She also headed the Nittany Lion attack with nine shots. Sophomore midfielder Madison McDowell
(Churchville, Pa.) netted the other three Nittany Lion goals in the second half (53:42, 75:06, 78:47).

Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.), Griffin shots were offered from freshman midfielder
Dakota Fryns (Dracut, Mass.), graduate midfielder
Megan Crammer (Riverside,N.J.), and freshman defender
Hailey Pinto (Rio Grande, N.J.). In goal, freshman
Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) (0-1) and
Madisson Ronn (Warrington, Pa.) split the 90 minutes; the former made 14 saves, while the latter totaled three. The 18th Griffin save was made by Fryns in a tremendous defensive effort.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Athletic Complex on Tuesday, September 6, when they host Penn State Brandywine for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
