Hackettstown, N.J. - Gwynedd Mercy University (9-15, 2-5) took the plate in the eighth inning of today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest at Centenary University (10-11, 4-3) looking at a 9-6 deficit. A Cyclone error, a stolen base by senior pinch runner Jack Jamison (Fort Washington, Pa.) put a runner in scoring position for the Griffins. Soon after, junior third baseman Noah Andress (Levittown, Pa.) singled in Jamison and later in the at-bat a two-out single from senior left fielder Brett Swire (Boyertown, Pa.) back within a run of Centenary University; 9-8. Unfortunately, the Cyclones scored the insurance run they needed in the top of the ninth inning as a two-out run-batted-in (RBI) from senior second baseman Jake Martell (Yardley, Pa.) left Gwynedd Mercy University a run shy in a 10-9 final.

Senior shortstop Rob Bailey (Abington, Pa.) was ther catalyst for the Gwynedd Mercy University offense with a 4-for-5 afternoon that included a double, four runs, an RBI, and a stolen base. Martell (2-for-6, R, RBI, SB), Andress (2-for-5, 2 RBI), and senior catcher Nate Campbell (Royersford, Pa.) (2-for-4, HR, R, 3 RBI) recorded two hits apiece; Campbell knocked in two during a four-run Griffin third inning with his first home run of the season. Senior right fielder T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) recorded the 100th hit of his collegiate career with a first-inning double to left field. He finished the affair 1-for-5 with an intentional walk.

Gwynedd Mercy University and Centenary University continue their AEC series on Monday, April 11, when they meet at the GMercyU Baseball Field for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
