Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (4/13/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-5, 1-2) welcomed Immaculata University (3-11, 2-1) to campus for today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) match. the Mighty Macs swept doubles play and secured points at number three singles (6-0, 6-1) and number two singles (6-1, 6-2) to clinch the league score, but afterwards sophomores Casey Meenan (Perkasie, Pa.) and Avamarie Backich (Southampton, Pa.) respectively scored Griffin points at number one (7-5, 6-3) and number four (6-4, 6-3) singles to break up any chance of a clean sweep; 7-2.

In doubles, Meenan paired with sophomore Moira Ryan (King of Prussia, Pa.) for an 8-3 loss on the first flight. Backich teamed with senior Jen Eisemann (Langhorne, Pa.) in an 8-4 loss at number two doubles. Lastly, sophomores Rachel Kressler (Center Valley, Pa.) and Nicole Rival (Mickleton, N.J.) gave a great effort in a 9-8 (7-3) final. As individuals, Ryan lost the third flight (6-0, 6-1), Eisemann lost the second (6-1, 6-2), senior Josie Okyere (Lakewood, N.J.) lost the sixth (6-2, 6-1), and Kressler lost a marathon in the fifth (7-3, 7-6 (15-13)).

Gwynedd Mercy University concludes their home schedule on Monday, April 18, when they host Neumann University for a 3:30 p.m. match.
