Radnor, Pa. - (4/11/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-4, 1-1) evened their early Atlantic East Conference (AEC) record with today's 5-4 victory at Cabrini University (3-5, 0-1). The Griffins used doubles wins in the second (8-4) and first (8-3) team flights to grab an early 2-0 edge on the Cavaliers. The home team trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with a 8-5 number-three doubles win and evened the spread at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-2, win at number two singles. A trade of points at number six singles (6-0, 6-2) and number five singles (6-2, 6-2) occurred before wins in the third (2-6, 6-1, 6-4) and first (6-0, 6-1) individual flights gave Gwynedd Mercy University the victory. Sophomore Avamarie Backich (Southampton, Pa.) scored the go-ahead point with her win at number thee singles and sophomore Casey Meenan (Perkasie, Pa.) recorded the match-winner with her triumph at number one singles.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, April 13, when they host Immaculata University for a 3:30 p.m. match.
